If you haven’t watched Inside Out yet, you should! I took my younger siblings to watch it and it was just a fun and hilarious movie! Anyway, Faridah (SheWhoWrites) has tagged me to do the Inside Out book tag, I actually hadn’t heard of this before but after reading the questions, I have to say I was excited to get started. You can check out the original post by Booktuber Kristina here!
For those of you who haven’t watched the movie, there were 5 different emotions in Riley’s (the main character) head. These were: JOY, SADNESS, DISGUST, FEAR and ANGER.
1. Which book brings you the most joy?
Joy was my favourite character/emotion (tied with Sadness, ironically). There are many many many books that bring me joy (just buying books usually achieves this…) but a book that made me happy this year is P.S. I Still Love You by Jenny Han. There are lots of books I’ve read so far this year that have brought me joy but this book is one that’s made me feel nothing but joy (maybe some crying…). Also, even though I read it last year, Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins definitely has to be one of my all-time favourite go-to happy books!
2. Which book grossed you out the most?
Okay, this one was a really tricky one but I’ve decided to pick Only Ever Yours by Louise O’Neill because this book has a lot of parts where the treatment of the young girls in the book is hard to stomach… Not sure if that’s what this should be under ‘disgust’ but hey, it’s the closest I could find…
3. A book that scared you more than anything?
Lately I’ve been reading graphic novels and one of these happened to be Through the Woods by Emily Carroll. If you’re ever looking for a creepy graphic novel, like hairs-standing-up-on-the-back-of-your-neck creepy, I’d definitely recommend. Also, the illustrations are absolutely stunning, if a little… grim.
4. What book made you cry the hardest?
I have to admit that I’m an easy crier when it comes to books. And TV shows… Basically, I get emotional very easily when it comes to fictional characters. A book/series that’s made me cry and still shocks me no matter how many times I reread it is Noughts and Crosses by Malorie Blackman.
5. Which book pissed you off?
This one was also a bit tricky for me because even though I have been angered by books before (who hasn’t?) I can’t remember specifics…. So I’m going to go with Insurgent/Allegiant by Veronica Roth. The Divergent series is one of my favourites but I have to say there were a lot of deaths in these two books that seemed a little uneccessary…
So those are my answers for this tag and it was actually a lot of fun!
I actually can’t think of anyone else who hasn’t been tagged… so if you’re reading this and haven’t, feel free to use this as an opportunity! Can’t wait to read other posts on this tag.
